Feature Set:  

DVDFab Platinum includes seven DVD copy options including full disk conversion which compresses a standard DVD-9 to blank DVD-5s; main movie, a feature that cuts all the additional features and only retains the movie; customize, an option where you can keep only the bonus features you want to keep, and more.

Some features included with DVDFab that are not found in many products include; the ability to retain or change the region codes, the ability to remove the CSS encryption, episodic DVD support (e.g. The Simpsons) and the ability to write data, not just movies, to a blank DVD.

Ease of Use:  

DVDFab is very easy to use and navigate. The buttons are simple and clearly labeled. We found that because DVDFab includes so many features, it might be a little intimidating to the new user, but after you take a few minutes to get used to the settings, the software is extremely user-friendly.

We found that DVDFab’s default settings will work just fine for those wanting simple copies, but if you like to play and tinker with your copies, and aren’t exactly sure which titles to keep, simply double-click and your scenes will appear in the lower left-hand screen. This is great for those customizing their copies.

Ease of Installation:  

This product is very easy to install. No problems.

Quality of Copy:  

We compressed a DVD-9 to DVD-5 and saw very little distortion. Our biggest complaint is we noticed some color bleeding mostly around bright letters on a dark background. This is most commonly seen in the opening or closing credits. Had we not been looking for problems, we wouldn't have even noticed; however, distortions may be more apparent on extremely large HD televisions.

Program Stability:  

We didn't encounter any problems or errors when we used this product.

Overall, DVDFab Platinum, from Fengtae Software, is a very good DVD copying product. It is a very easy program to navigate. Once you become familiar with the program, you will have no problems backing up your favorite DVDs.
